ANNUAL REPORT TO THE NIUSR EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE,
FEB 1, 2008
TO THE EAGLES OF THE NIUSR EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
2007 has been one of the most ambitious and productive years of NIUSR. This has been achieved through some outstanding personal efforts of you Eagles. That is the good news. And more Good News --- We have structured our programs for 2008 toward making these admirable efforts into TEAM efforts for NIUSR. This Will be a Challenge for you as Eagles don’t flock. You find them one at a time.
However since more minds playing as a team bring a multiple of 10 to the third power, this will be the year of TEAM NIUSR.
We know you will welcome the opportunity to be a part of the TEAM You have scheduled an outstanding series of exercises and demonstrations for 2008-2009. We know you will look ahead and clear the dates where you can enjoy the opportunities which being an Eagle in NIUSR provide.

For those of you who aren’t crazy about setting up demonstrations in the hot sun, we have a second challenge that you can do in a business suit. The continuing inability of NIUSR to find foundation or other funding to put a lasting and stable financial platform under our stellar group still haunts us. Finding a stable funding source is essential in continuing to fund our projects.
NIUSR is "different" than most NGO organizations. Not all, but most.
You, as Eagles of NIUSR participate because you feel a "calling" to give your energies and intellect to the nation and its people to lighten the burden placed on them from disasters of any cause, man-made or from Mother Nature. The fruit of our labors are directed outward to those in need, whatever that particular need addressed. NIUSR is the vehicle which facilitates the delivery of these both single and combined efforts.

NIUSR is small and sometimes small is better. Each of you has been invited to participate in NIUSR. Eagles do not flock. You find them one at a time.
Look at the OSS and what a small number of compadres accomplished in that War. And remember each of those in the OSS was there by invitation. There was no way to “enlist” in the OSS.
No way do I mean to compare us to those heroes. But sometimes small IS better. For example the long ago "skunk works" of the start up efforts of the computer industry.
But we cannot fool ourselves. Small or large we HAVE to find a way to put a foundation under NIUSR so as to continue to deliver the programs and support to the many "skunk works" that yearly appear from within our Eagles.
