NIUSR, now in its 32 year, is at the cutting edge of the endeavor to improve the ability of Communities to respond in dire times of unexpected emergencies.
We invite YOU to attend our gathering of eminent Leaders in today’s heightened interest in Leadership in Community Cooperative Readiness, Response and Recovery of People.
At the Core of this effort is the all-important role of Leadership. It is our ambition to gather both acknowledged and unsung leaders from around the country to discuss the elusive and unknown components that fuse to enhance the leadership qualities that reside in all of us.
We have all seen in dire times, outstanding examples of ad hoc “leaders” appear to gather citizens in performing amazing feats to wrest successful cooperative efforts from chaos.
We invite you to attend and participate in this first seminar “Conversations about Leadership” on April 8-10 in Santa Barbara at the El Capitan Canyon Resort, in the beautiful rolling hills 20 minutes north of the Santa Barbara Airport. (April 7th and 11th are suggested travel days.)

This is a series of conversations “in the round” with great leaders such as yourselves, to learn from each other, hear from other successful leaders, and interact with other decision response professionals. Safari Tents available at $115 per night. Very comfortable for the more adventurous, (Bath House showers and toilets.) Some NIUSR Eagles always chose the tents but remember “April showers could bring May flowers”.
The "Rustic" Cabins are very comfortable for city dwellers, down duvets and pillows, linen sheets, perfumed soap with flowers, in-cabin toilets and showers. Even your own Jacuzzi if you upgrade from the most affordable minimum. If you are a sybarite there are personal warm stone massages.
